MACHINE HEAD: More Banner Contest Winners Announced

May 9, 2007

Throughout the duration of the HEAVEN AND HELL tour, Roadrunner Records and MACHINE HEAD have announced that they will be scanning the crowd for fan-made banners. The fan(s) with the best banner will be granted backstage access to meet the band, and have photos of them and their banner posted on RoadrunnerRecords.com and MachineHead1.com. So if you'll be attending a show on the HEAVEN AND HELL tour (see dates here),grab your Mom's bed sheets, your Dad's vinyl cover, or whatever large piece of material you may have laying around, break out the markers and paint and you may just end up hanging out with MACHINE HEAD after the show. The full-length, uncensored version of MACHINE HEAD's new video, "Aesthetics of Hate", is now available on the "Media" page of the band's official web site. Alternately, it can be downloaded at this location (Flash Video file, 22 MB). Directed by Mike Sloat, the clip is the first from MACHINE HEAD's new album, "The Blackening", in stores now. The track was inspired by an article called "Aesthetics of Hate: R.I.P. Dimebag Abbott, & Good Riddance". The article, written by William Grim for the conservative web site the Iconoclast, basically kicked fans of the slain PANTERA guitarist while they were down, just days after he was killed onstage. The song is a "fuck you" to Grim, from MACHINE HEAD mainman Robert Flynn.

"The Blackening" was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA, with MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn returning to the producer's chair, and Mark Keaton once again handling engineering duties. Longtime MACHINE HEAD collaborator Colin Richardson (CANNIBAL CORPSE, TRIVIUM, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) mixed the record in London.
